Today (Sunday 9th December 2018 ), over 900 runners lined up to take part in the 36th annual running of the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon and several members of the Keyworth Camera Club were in position around the course to capture the event.
The race was due to start at 10.30 a.m. but race organisers were at South Wolds Academy, where the race starts and finishes, from the early hours preparing for the day. What inititally looked like being quite dull changed to bright sunshine for the start and the runners enjoyed very good conditions for this time of the year. The event is organised by the village scouts and raises funds for them and the charity Rainbows.
A lot of hard work goes into organising the event making sure there are plenty of marshalls around the course and helpers in the school providing much needed refreshments and first aid etc. Runners started arriving not long after 8.00 a.m. and some had travelled a fair distance to compete in what is one of the last events of the year if not the last.
Here are a sample of images taken by the club members.
